The Grand LA is a visionary public-private partnership with the Los Angeles Grand Avenue Authority to revitalize downtown LA's cultural and civic core with a mix of commercial, retail, cultural and residential apartments stitched together with grand public spaces and world-class architecture. Among the Grand is a 39 stories high tower called the residential tower. In observance of Earth Day 2023, The Broad commissioned musician MBaye Kante and dancer Haniyyah Tahirah to produce Children of the Soil, an original performance for video in response to Broad collection artist El Anatsuis Strips of the Earths Skin. The California Plaza also has an outdoor amphitheater where concerts and other events are hosted throughout the year.
